Precision bearing limit speed

Among all rolling bearings, angular contact ball bearings have the highest limit speed under the same conditions.
The limit speed of precision rolling bearings depends on the structure type, size series, size, cage structure, bearing accuracy, internal clearance and preload, external load, lubrication method and lubrication conditions, allowable working temperature, cooling measures and fit The accuracy of the shaft and seat, etc. The limiting speeds of bearings given in the catalog under the conditions of grease lubrication and oil lubrication (refers to oil-air or oil-mist lubrication) are for reference only. This speed value is suitable for the following situations:

  1. Bearing precision: Angular contact ball bearings and ball screw support bearings are P4 grades, cylindrical roller bearings and bidirectional thrust angular contact ball bearings are SP grades, and deep groove ball bearings are P5 grades.
  2. Single set of bearings, light preload.
  3. Normal installation, proper fit of bearing, shaft and seat, and dynamic balance of rotating parts.
  4. Grease lubrication adopts high-quality grease with moderate amount of grease.
  5. When lubricating with oil, the lubricating oil has excellent performance, proper viscosity and sufficient oil quantity.
  6. Bearings must not be overloaded and must be operated under normal working temperature conditions.
The limit speed value given in the catalog refers to the maximum speed under ideal conditions. Due to the limitations of various conditions, the actual operating speed is generally lower than the given value in the catalog.
The limit speed of paired bearings should be determined according to the pairing method, preload and bearing accuracy, and the limit speed will be reduced, and the reduction factor is as follows:
